The strength attached to a pressed pill comes from the person who pressed it. There is no third party checking it, no standard it is measured against, and no consequence for it being wrong. It is a description supplied by the seller, and it travels with the batch because it is useful for selling, not because anyone verified it.

DIMS analyses the pills submitted to it by the people who bought them and publishes the results. In 2023 the average pill contained 138 milligrams of MDMA, and half of all pills contained between 117 and 163 milligrams. Those measurements came from laboratory analysis of actual pills, not from the people selling them.

Above the middle band by a clear margin, at roughly one and a half times the measured average. That is the only useful thing that can be done with an unverified figure: compare it with verified ones.

Ecstasy pills accounted for 58% of everything submitted to DIMS in 2023, at an average price of 4.10 euro per pill, with half priced between 4 and 5 euro.

DIMS lists the effects as a sense of intimacy, increased energy and euphoria. The EU Drugs Agency notes heightened sensory awareness, describes the effect as mild central stimulation, and records that the terms empathogenic and entactogenic were coined for the socialising effect.
