Zolpidem 10mg: Uses, Dosage and the Sleep-Behaviour Warning

  • Pack: 3 strips × 10 tabs = 30 tabs
  • Category: Anxiety & Sleep
  • Availability: In stock

Zolpidem 10mg is a sleeping tablet used to treat short-term insomnia. It is not a benzodiazepine. It belongs to a group of drugs known as the Z-drugs, which are chemically different from the benzodiazepines but act on the same receptor in the brain.

Zolpidem is prescription-only, but you can also order online without prescription from Euro Pharma Care, we offer fast delivery at your doorstep. To order online, kindly press the WhatsApp or Signal button to place an order.

What is zolpidem used for?

Zolpidem is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. It helps people to fall asleep rather than keeping them asleep through the night, because it clears from the body quickly. Zolpidem does not treat the cause of the sleep problem.

A very short half-life. The half-life of zolpidem is about 2.8 hours, which is very short. That is why it suits people who have trouble falling asleep, and why less of the drug remains in the body by morning than with most sleeping tablets.

Complex sleep behaviours. Zolpidem can cause people to carry out complex activities while not fully awake. Sleep-driving, sleep-walking and even preparing and eating food while asleep have all been reported, with no memory of any of it afterwards. Hallucinations have also been reported. These effects can occur even after a single dose rather than only with long-term use.

The dose is not the same for everyone. For adults the dose is 10mg taken immediately before bed. For women the starting dose is 5mg, as they clear zolpidem more slowly than men and are at higher risk of impairment the following morning. For people aged 65 and over, the recommended dose is half the adult dose.

Side effects of zolpidem 10mg. The common side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, headache and a bitter or metallic taste. Next-morning impairment is the one that affects driving. Alcohol makes every effect stronger, and it also makes the complex sleep behaviours more likely to occur.

Common questions

Is Belbien the same as zolpidem 10mg?

Belbien is one of the brand names under which zolpidem is sold. Ambien is another brand name, used in the United States. All of them contain zolpidem as the active ingredient, and the strength of the tablets matters more than the brand name printed on the box.

Is zolpidem tartrate the same as zolpidem?

Zolpidem tartrate is the full chemical name of the drug in the tablet. Tartrate is the salt it is made into, and the strength printed on the box refers to that. So zolpidem 10mg is the same as zolpidem tartrate 10mg.

How long does zolpidem last?

Not long. With a half-life of under three hours, most of a dose has gone within a night, which is why it is taken immediately before bedtime. Because of that short action, it is better suited to people with difficulty falling asleep than to those who have difficulty sleeping through the night.

What is the difference between zolpidem, Zolpidem Sandoz, Lunata and Zoltrate?

They are the same medicine presented four ways. Zolpidem is the name of the drug. Zolpidem Sandoz is a generic version with the manufacturer's name appended. Lunata and Zoltrate are brand names for the same drug. A 10mg tablet of each contains the same amount of zolpidem, so the only real difference between them is cost and availability.
